CAB - Music On Tour

CAB is the meeting of African, Caribbean and Brazilian music orchestrated by Martinican pianist Mario Canonge, Cameroonian singer and guitarist Blick Bassy and the talented young Brazilian percussionist Adriano Tenorio. The band brings its jazzy-African tunes to South Africa and Lesotho from 21 to 28 November as part of a tour throughout the African continent.

This unique project and singular musical band gathers Mario Canonge, one of the most famous Caribbean jazz pianists, Adriano Tenorio, a Brazilian master of percussions, and the unbelievable and sensual voice of Blick Bassy from Cameroon. Their music transcends borders to reflect today’s global village.

Created in 2012, the band has been regularly on tour for the last two years while writing and recording songs for their first joint album set for release this year. CAB, initially from New-York or London, became the universal symbol for taxi, which drives from place to place, encounters to encounters… The trio invites you to a unique music trip gathering the sounds and atmospheres from Africa and South America!

The trio performs 28 afro-jazz-fusion concerts in 21 countries in less than 3 months as part of their African tour supported by the Institut Français taking place from 15 September to 28 November. Now on their way to Pointe-Noire (Congo), the trio has received so far rave reviews from public and media alike. In Asmaria, Eritrea, they performed in front of a crowd of 900 people. South Africa and Lesotho will be the last hosts of this amazing tour.

The trio who shares the stage with local artists in each host country has collaborated so far with Ghanaian guitar maestro Kyekyeku, Rwandese songstress Shanel, Nigerian saxophonist Sola to name a few… CAB will collaborate with local artists in Lesotho and South Africa: in Maseru with popular Lesotho jazz artist Bhudaza Mapefane - best known as Bhudaza - and in Johannesburg with Siya Makuzeni (picture on right hand-side), the professional South African trombone player, vocalist, lyricist and songwriter who collaborated with A-list South African musicians such as Marcus Wyatt,Themba Mkhize,McCoy Mrubata, Feya Faku,Frank Opperman, Tlale Makhene,Khaya Mahlangu,Sibongile Khumalo.
